For decades, Titan watches have been woven into the personal milestones of Indian consumers. Whether it was a Sonata gifted after academic success, a Fastrack bought with a first paycheck, or a Titan exchanged during a wedding, the brand has long been associated with life's meaningful moments.
Now, as it marks four decades in the industry, Titan is looking beyond nostalgia and everyday timekeeping. The company is positioning itself as a serious watchmaker focused on mechanical excellence, craftsmanship, and performance.
This vision was recently showcased through a Guinness World Record achievement, where Titan’s Professional Diver's Watch was photographed underwater at a depth of 52.1 metres, setting the record for the deepest underwater product photo shoot. The feat reflects the brand’s ambition to earn recognition among global watch enthusiasts and collectors.
According to Ranjani Krishnaswamy, Chief Marketing Officer for Analog Watches at Titan Company, the brand’s evolution goes beyond its strong quartz heritage. Titan aims to establish itself among the world's most influential watchmakers by enhancing its technical expertise, manufacturing capabilities, and ability to create high-performance mechanical timepieces.
The company’s Zero Hour collection, priced between ₹15,000 and ₹75,000, was developed in response to changing consumer aspirations. Titan observed that modern consumers, particularly men, are increasingly defining themselves through passions and experiences such as marathons, adventure travel, racquet sports, and outdoor pursuits rather than solely through their professions.
Krishnaswamy notes that today's consumers aspire to lead more multidimensional lives, seeking identities that extend beyond job titles. Coupled with rising disposable incomes, greater exposure to international brands, and a growing community of watch collectors, this shift is fueling demand for watches that serve as personal statements rather than just functional accessories.
Through its renewed focus on performance-led mechanical watches, Titan is seeking to strengthen its position not only in India but also on the global watchmaking stage.
