District by Zomato has introduced Splitpay, a new feature designed to simplify bill payments during group dining. The feature allows diners to split restaurant bills and pay their individual share directly through the app.

To announce the launch, the brand has rolled out a campaign film featuring actors Boman Irani and Anupam Kher. The film humorously portrays two friends arguing over who gets to pay the bill, with the friendly dispute escalating into a dramatic tussle.

The campaign then presents Splitpay as a seamless solution to the common challenge of one person paying the entire bill and later collecting payments from others. With the feature, diners can settle their share instantly at the restaurant through the app.

Built for group outings, Splitpay enables users to divide the bill equally or customize individual contributions. Diners simply enter the bill amount, choose the number of participants, and complete their payment within the app. The company also states that users can earn cashback on their share of the bill.

Speaking about the launch, Rahul Ganjoo, CEO of District by Zomato, said the feature addresses a long-standing pain point in dining experiences by eliminating the awkwardness and calculations involved in splitting bills. He added that Splitpay aligns with the platform's goal of making every stage of going out more convenient and enjoyable.

The campaign will be promoted across digital platforms as part of the feature's rollout.
