ICICI Lombard General Insurance has completed an important milestone by celebrating its 25th anniversary with the introduction of 25 new insurance products and digital solutions designed to enhance customer experience across multiple segments. The new launches span health, motor, travel, home, commercial insurance, and artificial intelligence-driven services, reflecting the company's commitment to innovation and digital transformation.
Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director and CEO Sanjeev Mantri highlighted the company's remarkable growth over the past two and a half decades. He pointed out that India's economy has expanded significantly since the company began operations in 2001, and ICICI Lombard has grown alongside it by serving more than 50 crore customers while successfully settling nearly 6 crore insurance claims.
Among the major announcements is India's first fully digital insurance branch located inside the Siddhivinayak Metro Station, providing convenient access to health, travel, and motor insurance services. The insurer also introduced several customer-centric initiatives, including time-bound roadside assistance, dedicated emergency support for motorists, simplified claim reimbursement, preventive healthcare services, specialized support for senior citizens, and easy digital payment solutions.
Small businesses have also been included in the company's expansion strategy through simplified insurance solutions designed specifically for MSMEs, making coverage more accessible and easier to manage.
ICICI Lombard's latest product portfolio addresses evolving customer needs with specialized insurance offerings. These include women-focused health insurance plans, comprehensive pet insurance, modular home insurance, cyber protection for connected vehicles, enhanced personal accident coverage for vehicle owners, improved health insurance renewal benefits, and higher Insured Declared Value (IDV) options for private car owners.
These products are intended to offer greater flexibility, improved protection, and better financial security for customers across different stages of life.
Artificial intelligence plays a significant role in the company's future roadmap. Newly launched AI-powered services include Voice AI for policy servicing and payments, intelligent health underwriting for faster policy approvals, AI-assisted travel itinerary planning integrated with travel insurance, fraud detection systems, customer sentiment monitoring, sales intelligence platforms, and automated claim verification tools.
The company also introduced enhanced telematics features that provide personalized driving insights, encouraging safer driving habits while improving customer engagement.
During the anniversary event, Sanjeev Mantri expressed concern that a large percentage of Indians traveling abroad continue to do so without adequate travel insurance. He emphasized that unexpected medical emergencies, trip disruptions, or accidents overseas can result in significant financial burdens, making travel insurance an essential part of international travel planning.
Discussing the future of India's insurance sector, Mantri stated that the industry has the potential to grow faster than the country's overall economic growth. He also highlighted the need for revisions in third-party motor insurance premiums, noting that tariff increases have remained unchanged for several years.
The company continues to prioritize sustainable underwriting, disciplined risk management, and long-term profitability rather than focusing solely on short-term financial performance.
ICICI Lombard has invested significantly in technology, with dedicated engineering and data science teams developing AI-driven platforms for customer service and claims processing. A large share of customer interactions is now managed through voice bots and WhatsApp-based support systems, enabling faster responses while reducing service delays.
At the same time, the insurer continues to maintain dedicated human support teams, particularly for senior citizens and customers who require personalized assistance.
The company also acknowledged ongoing challenges within the insurance industry, including policy mis-selling. However, company executives noted that stronger regulatory oversight and improved governance have helped reduce such practices considerably over recent years. High policy renewal rates, according to the company, reflect increasing customer confidence and satisfaction.
As ICICI Lombard enters its next phase of growth, its latest product launches demonstrate a strong emphasis on digital innovation, artificial intelligence, customer convenience, and comprehensive protection. By combining technology with personalized service, the company aims to create a smarter, more accessible insurance experience while supporting the evolving needs of individuals, families, businesses, and travelers across India.
