RedBus has launched ‘Freedom Bottle’, an Independence Day campaign highlighting an everyday travel challenge faced by women: limited access to restrooms during long-distance bus journeys.
The campaign marks the first activation under redBus’ ‘Travel Equal’ initiative, which focuses on identifying and addressing everyday inequalities experienced by women while travelling.
Through a documentary-style digital film and an on-ground activation, ‘Freedom Bottle’ explores how uncertainty around restroom availability can influence women’s hydration choices. On long journeys, concerns about finding a restroom may lead some women to consciously reduce their water intake, turning a basic need like staying hydrated into a travel-related challenge.
The campaign draws attention to buses equipped with in-built toilets, presenting them as a more convenient option for travellers looking for easier restroom access during long journeys.
redBus is also highlighting its ‘Booking for Women’ feature, which allows passengers to filter buses equipped with in-built toilets while booking their journey. The feature is designed to give women greater visibility and choice when planning long-distance travel.
According to the redBus India Bus Track 2026 Report, more than 50 million women make up around 34% of all intercity bus travellers, highlighting the importance of creating more comfortable and inclusive travel experiences.
The campaign also connects with broader conversations around women's health and travel habits. Research has identified habitual delayed urination as a behavioural risk factor associated with urinary tract infections, further highlighting why access to convenient restroom facilities can matter during extended journeys.
With ‘Freedom Bottle’, redBus uses Independence Day as an opportunity to redefine what freedom can mean for women on the road—not just the freedom to travel, but the freedom to travel comfortably, confidently and without compromising everyday needs.
The campaign combines purpose-led storytelling, digital content and product functionality to bring attention to a practical issue while showcasing how better travel infrastructure and informed booking choices can contribute to a more inclusive journey.
