The highly anticipated India debut of American rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, has been officially cancelled. The event, scheduled for May 23 in New Delhi, was called off after government and law-enforcement authorities issued security advisories in light of the ongoing high-alert situation in the capital.
Organisers White Fox released a statement expressing their disappointment, noting that months of preparation had gone into what was expected to be one of India’s largest live productions. They emphasized that the safety of attendees and citizens remains the top priority and affirmed their cooperation with official directives during this sensitive period.
All ticket buyers who purchased through official ticketing partner District will receive full refunds, the organisers confirmed. They also added that efforts are underway with Ye’s team to identify a new date and venue, with updates to be shared via official channels.
The cancellation follows an earlier postponement from the original March 29 date, which was delayed due to rising socio-political tensions. Ye’s Delhi concert was reportedly close to being sold out, with ticket prices reaching up to ₹30,000, highlighting the strong anticipation for the hip-hop icon’s first-ever performance in India.
Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists in global hip-hop. Known for groundbreaking albums such as The College Dropout, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, he has shaped the sound of modern rap. Some of his most iconic singles include Through the Wire, Stronger, Heartless, and Runaway. Ye recently released his studio album Bully.
With fans across India awaiting his arrival, hopes remain high that Ye will soon return with rescheduled dates for his long-awaited performance.
