Hilton is looking to turn the massive reach of Deepika Padukone into measurable business impact through its “It Matters Where You Stay” campaign.
While the campaign has generated billions of views, Hilton says its success should be measured through brand recall, searches, website traffic, customer conversations and commercial opportunities, rather than views alone.
From celebrity reach to business impact
Deepika Padukone serves as Hilton's global brand ambassador, but the campaign has been specifically designed around the Indian traveller.
Phase one generated more than 1.9 billion Instagram Reels views, while phase two has already crossed 4 billion YouTube views. Around 70% of the campaign's views have come from India.
Moving beyond vanity metrics
Hilton reports a 3.05% increase in ad recall and a 2.2% rise in premium brand association.
Searches for Hilton Hotels were also 25% higher among people exposed to the campaign, while brand search volume has maintained an incremental uplift of more than 10% against the pre-campaign average.
The campaign has generated around 2.5 million interactions, with its soundtrack appearing organically in more than 10,000 pieces of Instagram user-generated content.
Turning attention into hotel business
Hilton says the campaign is influencing conversations around weddings, leisure travel and new hotel properties.
Customers at Hilton properties have reportedly referenced the campaign while discussing wedding requirements, while hotel owners and developers have also shown interest in using Deepika's association around future launches.
The brand is also seeing stronger leisure opportunities, including business travellers extending their stays into weekends.
Brand.com becomes a key conversion channel
Traffic to Hilton's India brand.com has increased by 250%, while conversion has improved by around 0.9 percentage points.
Hilton is also experimenting with WhatsApp Business as a customer communication and acquisition channel. The company reports open rates of around 83% on WhatsApp, compared with roughly 4% for traditional email.
Taking the campaign beyond metros
Hilton is also targeting Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, combining digital, OTT and offline media with Deepika's broad appeal.
The company is exploring regional-language communication in markets such as Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, rather than relying only on Hindi and English.
The bigger takeaway
Hilton's strategy shows how a celebrity partnership can move beyond reach and awareness into the business funnel.
The objective is not simply to put Deepika Padukone's face in front of consumers, but to use her influence to drive brand preference, searches, website visits, bookings, wedding enquiries and hotel expansion.
With Hilton targeting 400 hotels in India, the campaign is ultimately being used as a growth engine for a much larger expansion strategy.
