India Gate is taking biryani back to its royal roots and doing it with a generous helping of humour. The brand has launched a new campaign, #AuthenticTasteWithIndiaGate, to introduce its latest product: India Gate Classic Biryani Masala. Conceptualised by Ogilvy India, the campaign makes a bold, playful case for authentic taste in a world of shortcuts.

A Royal Forgiving Streak The campaign film is set in a fictional royal court in medieval India. The story follows a khaansama, a royal cook, whose repeated blunders test the patience of the King and his guards. Yet no matter what goes wrong, the King finds it in himself to forgive, every single time, drawn back by the memory of the extraordinary biryani on his plate.

It's a simple but brilliant insight: when the food is truly that good, nothing else really matters.

Sujoy Roy, CCO of Ogilvy India, summed up the creative thought behind the film. The idea that even a Mughal emperor might overlook a few royal blunders for the right plate of biryani became the heart of everything.

The Product At the centre of the campaign is the newly launched India Gate Classic Biryani Masala, designed to bring restaurant-quality biryani into everyday home kitchens. The product comes with a premix gravy base and a separate pouch of seasoning, together crafted to recreate the deep, layered flavours that define an authentic biryani.

It's a thoughtful two-step format that respects the complexity of the dish while making it genuinely accessible for the modern cook who doesn't want to compromise on taste.

Heritage Meets the Quick-Commerce Age To ensure the product reaches consumers quickly and conveniently, India Gate has partnered with quick-commerce platform Zepto for online ordering and delivery. It's a fitting combination, a product rooted in centuries of culinary legacy, now available at the speed of modern life.

Kunal Sharma, VP of Marketing, spoke about the campaign's larger ambition, to simplify the biryani-making process without stripping away the richness and layered taste that makes the dish so beloved. The goal was always to celebrate biryani's heritage while meeting the demands of today's home kitchens.

Why It Works Biryani isn't just food in India. It's culture, memory, and identity rolled into one pot. India Gate's decision to anchor its campaign in a royal, humorous narrative is smart storytelling. It honours the dish's Mughal heritage without taking itself too seriously, making the message both memorable and widely shareable.

In a crowded spices and masala market, where brands often compete on price or convenience alone, #AuthenticTasteWithIndiaGate stakes its claim on something harder to manufacture: genuine flavour credibility. And in doing so, India Gate doesn't just launch a product. It tells a story worth remembering.
