LEGO has pulled off the unthinkable, assembling four of the most iconic footballers on the planet, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Vinícius Jr., into a single, breathtaking advertisement ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Titled "Everyone Wants a Piece," the ad is already being called one of the greatest sports commercials ever made.

The concept is brilliantly simple. The four superstars sit around a dimly lit spinning table, each competing to place their own LEGO mini-figure on top of a brick-built version of the FIFA World Cup trophy. It's playful, it's competitive, and it's absolutely electric. A perfect reflection of the rivalries and hunger that define the beautiful game at its highest level.

What makes this moment truly special is the sheer rarity of it. The last time Messi and Ronaldo shared a stage in an advertisement was the iconic Louis Vuitton chess campaign ahead of Qatar 2022, a photo that became one of Instagram's most liked posts in history. Now, LEGO has gone one better, adding two of football's brightest modern stars to the mix in Mbappé and Vinícius Jr., creating a collision of generations that fans never dared dream of.

The internet went into a complete frenzy. Within just 24 hours of release, the ad clocked over 314 million views across the players' Instagram accounts. Messi's own post alone gathered 17 million likes in a single day. Fans were stunned, with comments ranging from "most GOATed ad of all time" to "this might be the most expensive group chat ever assembled." Adding to the excitement, the campaign carries a bold disclaimer, #HonestlyIt'sNotAI, confirming that yes, these four legends were genuinely in the same room together.

The campaign was crafted by LEGO's in-house creative team, Our LEGO Agency, in partnership with advertising firm Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam. Beyond the ad, LEGO has launched a brand new Editions collection tied to each player. Ronaldo's set features an R-shaped brick base in Portugal's colours with hidden Easter eggs charting his legendary career, while Messi's mirrors his legacy with an M-shaped base in Argentina's iconic blue and white, proudly featuring his famous No. 10 shirt. Sets start from $29.99, with premium Football Legend sets for Messi and Ronaldo at $79.99, and the full FIFA World Cup Trophy replica at $199.99.

The stakes couldn't be higher on the pitch either. The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11, running through July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the first ever edition to feature 48 nations. Messi's Argentina enter as defending champions, Mbappé's France hunt a third title, while Ronaldo and Vinícius Jr. carry the hopes of Portugal and Brazil respectively.
