IndiGo sues Mahindra Electric over use of ‘6E’ in its new electric car
IndiGo has filed a trademark infringement suit against Mahindra Electric in the Delhi High Court, contesting the use of “6E” in Mahindra’s upcoming BE 6E electric car, slated for a February 2025 launch. IndiGo, which uses “6E” as a key part of its brand identity, argues the overlap risks consumer confusion and dilutes its trademark.
While Mahindra has trademarked “BE 6E” under motor vehicle classifications, IndiGo registered “6E Link” across various advertising and airline service categories. The legal dispute underscores the challenges of protecting trademarks across industries. A hearing is scheduled for December 9.
